Brooke County Health and Safety Task Force
Several Brooke County agencies have formed a task force to discuss, prevent, educate and respond to health and safety issues which affect today’s students. The goal is to address ways the community and schools can work together to create a community that promotes prevention through improved communication with families and increases services and supports to our students when faced with a health and safety problem. Educational achievement improves when student well-being is addressed. Among the topics to be addressed are Substance Abuse, Lice, Immunizations, Bed Bugs, and Mental/Emotional Health. Thanks to these participating agencies: Brooke County Health Department, Brooke County Extension Office, Brooke Hancock Family Resource Network, Weirton Medical Center, Salvation Army, Northern Panhandle HeadStart, Youth Services Systems and Healthways. If you or your agency would like to be involved, please contact Stephanie Blundon at 304-737-3481 ext. 228. The next Task Force meeting will be held on Thursday, January 17th at 9 a.m. in the Board Room at the Brooke County Board of Education Building.
