Mrs. Karen Stuck
My name is Karen Stuck and I have been a school counselor for Brooke County Schools for the past 23 years. I started out as an elementary counselor and then in 2007 I started at Wellsburg Middle School. I am currently the 7th and 8th grade counselor at Brooke Middle School. I have a Master's Degree in School Counseling from West Virginia University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice/Psychology from Fairmont State College. I have been married to Terry Stuck for 30 years and we have 2 daughters, Taylor, age 26, living in Huntington and working as a journalist, and Emily, age 21, currently attending Marshall University for Theater. My family is rounded out by our black Labador named Puck. I love to read, travel, watch sports, especially football and hockey, and do things with my family.
My postion at the middle school entails many things. I provide individual and crisis counseling to students, work with parents and teachers, attend SAT, IEP, and 504 meetings on students, and make referrals to different agencys for students. I also do classroom presentations, organize presentations to come to the school, and work with attendance. I am also available to our principals to assist them in various ways. I love working at Brooke Middle School and everyday is different. Brooke Middle School has a School-Based Mental Health componet this year. The mental health specialist is available to help me help our students. The mental health coordinator can make referrals for our students who may need more in depth mental health counseling or other services in the home. The office also has information for parents about mental health issues affecting our youth today. You can call me at the school if you are interested or need assistance in any of these areas.
My phone number at the school is 304-737-3800, Ext. 1115
