Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Jen Turbanic

Welcome to Mrs. Turbanic’s classroom page!

I am excited to begin the 2018/2019 school year a the NEW Brooke Middle School.  I was a "former" Wellsburg Middle School teacher. I have a self – contained Multi-Categorical classroom in which I teach Reading/Language Arts, Math and Social Studies. I run a “tight ship”. My students are held accountable for their actions.  I feel by doing this they learn to become responsible / respectful adults.  In my classroom I have a Character Education Program.  My students (in the self-contained classroom)earn tickets for showing good character. For example, if they simply say “Hello, Good Morning/Afternoon, Have a good day, etc., they earn tickets.  The other teachers, aides, principals, secretaries, and other service personnel at Brooke Middle School know of my program.  So, they often come to me and tell me of the good character my students show. My students earn tickets then also.  Education is very important to me.  I strive to do my best every day to challenge your child and make their learning experience fun and successful.

Communicating with parents/guardians is one of my priorities.  It is of great importance that the lines of communication remain open between myself and my students' parents'/guardians'. I use the Remind App. on a daily basis.  Email is also another means of communication I use daily.  Please check your childs Take home folder to find the Remind app form (amongst other forms) to fill out and return to ensure you are enterd in my Remind group.

A little bit about myself!

I obtained my Degree in Elementary Education grades K-6 from West Liberty University.  I also hold my Multi – Categorical (Learning Disabilities, Behavior Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities) with Autism from Ohio Valley University.  In December 2018, I completed my Master's Degree in Advanced Special Educaiton from West Liberty University. I am an avid Steelers fan!  Go Steelers!  I am also a HUGE Harry Potter fan. "Words are our most inexhaustible sourse of magic.  Capable of both inflicting injury and remedying it." - Albus Dumbledore

I am married to my wonderful husband, Steve, and have two beautiful children, Sophia is 9 and Aiden is 5. We have two cocker spaniels named Maggie and Molly.  I am very outgoing and love when people smile and laugh.  Some of my favorite things to do are read, shop and spend time with my family and friends.

Looking Ahead

The 2018/2019 school year will be exciting and new for us all!  I am looking forward to all of the new experiences we will embark upon together!
