Classroom Management:  Postitive Reinforcement / Consequences

Individual Classroom Behavior:  Our classroom is a positive environment.  Students can individually earn points for following classroom rules and participating in classroom activities.  Once they reach a disignated amount of points, they get to pick from the prize bucket.  This is a great way to keep the students motivated!  In our classroom, we also use a 4 color coded behavior system that enforces consequences when necessary.  Your child will keep their behavior calendar in their folders for you to review their color daily.  The color codes are:

GREEN:  ready to learn   YELLOW - Warning    ORANGE - Loss of free time (5 minutes)   RED - Loss of free time (10 minutes)

***If the behavior continues the student will be assigned to the QUIET TABLE in the lunchroom.

***If your child is on yellow, there is no consequence.  Sometimes they just need redirected.

***If your child is on red or is sent to the quiet table, a red sheet with more details will come home for you to sign and return.

***If your child is sent to the quiet table 3x's in one month, the student must go to AAI (Acting Appropriately Instruction) and will not be eligible for the monthly school wide PBIS events as described below.

***Any form of physical aggression or a major violation will result in moving instantly to red, quiet table, or possibly AAI at the discretion of the teacher and/or principal.

Whole Classroom Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS):  As a class, we earn something we call pocket points.  The class can earn tokens in a jar for displaying whole group good behavior.  When we reach the line on the celebration jar our class earns a reward/party.  If you would like to donate treats for this it would be greatly appreciated.  These treats must be store bought and meet the county’s nutritional guidelines.  (Capri Suns, animal crackers, goldfish crackers, Rice Krispy Treats, etc…).

School Wide Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS):  As a school, we have monthly incentives for displaying good behavior.  In order to be eligible to participate in these special activities each month, a student must not have had AAI for that month.  Every month is a new beginning!
