Mr. Thomas Faessel

My name is Thomas Faessel and I am a fifth year teacher with Brooke County Schools. I received my teaching degree from West Liberty University and I am state certified to teach Secondary Social Studies from fifth grade to adult education. I am currently enrolled in graduate level courses at West Liberty University in the field of advanced teaching.

On a personal note, I live in this community and have two children that attend Brooke County Schools; rest assured I want for them the same quality education that you are hoping your children will receive this year at Follansbee Middle School. That being said, I am looking forward to educating your children this year in world history. This subject also happens to be my personal favorite and I have a true passion for learning and teaching history. I understand that this passion is not always shared by the students that are in my classroom, but I hope to overcome those sentiments by expressing my honest opinion that social studies is the most important of subjects, as adults we come to find that we use economics, politics, geography, and history in our everyday lives quite frequently.

In order for this school year to be a successful and productive one, I am asking for your support in respecting the educational process, and although we might not always agree with the policies and rules established on the federal, state, county, and school levels, we still must abide by them to ensure the safety, security, and academic well being of all students. I am a very fair and honest person, and I respect your role as an active parent, I would ask for that same reciprocation of respect in return.  I am always willing to discuss any questions, comments, or concerns that you might have. My expectations for this school year are high and I am hoping with your help we can ensure your child’s success in my class.
