Mrs. Brandy Mazzella
Growing up in the Ohio Valley, Mrs. Mazzella proudly cheered for all things "green and gold." After attending Colliers Elementary School, Mrs. Mazzella continued on to Follansbee Middle School and then Brooke High School. Mazzella attests to having many wonderful Brooke County teachers and is privileged to call many of her former instructors colleagues today. After attending Brooke, Mrs. Mazzella continued her education at Bethany College. With a great love of literature instilled by Brooke High School English teachers like Mrs. Candy Owens, Mazzella decided to pursue a major in English Literature. Bethany provided a competitive atmosphere for study. Tucked away by country roads, the college offered an experience that was just far enough from home and just close enough to her roots. After graduation, Mazzella decided to be a teacher and committed to studying education at Franciscan University. During this time, Mazzella began dating and ultimately married a grade-school classmate. When offered a position at Brooke, Mrs. Mazzella embraced the opportunity to begin teaching in some of the same classrooms that nurtured her own love of learning. This year is Mazzella's eighth year at Brooke, and she will be continue to provide leadership in her second year as English Department Chair.
Today, Mazzella enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters. The family enjoys taking walks together, playing canasta, and riding rollercoasters. During the summer, the Mazzella family often vacations at the beach where they appreciate the opportunity to read for pleasure.
