Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Julie Rodgers
I am in my twenty- first year with Brooke County Schools and seventeen of those years have been teaching fifth grade at Wellsburg Middle School and now at Brooke Middle School. As a 5th grade teacher, I currently teach English Language Arts.
After graduating from Brooke High School in 1993, I attended West Liberty State College. In 1996, I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Multi-Subjects K-8 and a minor degree in PreK-K in three and a half years. Furthering my education, I graduated with a Master's Degree in Reading from West Virginia University. I worked as a substitute teacher in Brooke County for two and a half years before being hired as a full time teacher at Jefferson Primary for half of the year. Then, I moved to Wellsburg Middle School to teach 7th and 8th grade Reading/Language Arts and Social Studies for a year and a half. My last move was to the fifth grade, and I love teaching this age group.
In addition, I have been coaching/teaching cheering and gymnastics for twenty-five years. I coached cheering at WMS for four years. We were the first WMS cheering team to earn 1st place at the OVAC Competition in 2014. In 2015, we received Runner-Up. Also, I coached cheering for the Wellsburg Colts for 5 years, and I taught cheering/gymnastics at "The Studio" for 25 years.
I have a daughter named Jeana Battista. She is currently a sophomore at Brooke High School and a Varsity Cheerleader. She is the joy of my life. In addition, we have an American Eskimo dog named Bella and a new Siberian Husky puppy named Lola.
