Mr. Richard Whitehead

Hello, I am the current Assistant Principal at Brooke Middle School and my office is located on the second floor of the building. Although my duties vary greatly day-by-day, I primarily oversee the fifth and sixth grade students. I also serve as one of the four track coaches at the middle school level.

My career started in Brooke County at Follansbee Middle where I taught 6th grade social studies. I always had a passion for social studies because it provides students with the background information for why things happened in the past, the results of those decisions, and its impact on the future. In August 2015, I started my administrative role at WMS as an assistant principal and I am currently in my fifth year as an administrator.

I am a thorough believer that every student has a story and is capable of becoming a dynamic member of society; however, in order to learn students must attend school every day possible because attendance counts! I am proud to come from a family of educators and I love hearing stories from students that have had either my mom or dad in elementary school.

On a personal level outside of school I am a political junkie, especially during election years. I love following current events -both local and national. In addition to politics, I enjoy outdoor activities such as swimming and hiking and indoor activities such as Ebay and Netflix.
