Miss Meredith Hood
I graduated from West Liberty University in 2009 with a BA in Elementary Education K-6. I began teaching First Grade at Hooverson Heights Primary School in Brooke County in 2010. I completed my Masters Degree from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 2014 in Educational Administration with a focus on Curriculum Instruction.
I spent eight years at Hooverson Heights Primary School teaching first grade. My intentions when I went into education were to give students the knowledge they need to achieve their dreams no matter what they may be, to be an inspiration, and to love them all unconditionally. I once found myself at a social function answering the question "Do you have any children?" with the answer "Yes, 18!" My students are my kids, and we call ourselves our "school family" for the year. This is my first year at the new Brooke Middle School as one of the 5th grade math teachers. Math is my favorite subject and I am beyond excited to share my love for math and my relatability of math with my stduents!
I am constantly attending professional developments and training seminars and seeking ways to further my education in order to enhance the student's learning. The past three summers I've attended the West Virginia Center for Professional Development's three-day Infusing Technology Academy in Charleston, WV. I also am a SMART Certified Education Trainer and an A.L.I.C.E. Certified Trainer. I am one of Brooke County's Chromebook and Google for Education Trainers/Guru.
I enjoy anything outdoors, have a huge love for animals, and love everything with Owls! I have a 2 year old daughter, Annie, who means the world to me.
