Mrs. Millie Billiard
Mrs. Millie Fillinger-Billiard
I have been teaching in Brooke County since the Fall of 2000. I was originally hired as a 1st grade teacher at Wellsburg Primary and was transferred to JPS in the Fall of 2001. . After teaching first grade for 10 years, I changed grade levels and began teaching 3rd grade in the Fall of 2011. I am a BHS graduate and earned my undergraduate degree for Fairmont State College. I decided to go back to school and earn my masters in 2005. I received a MA+15 from West Virginia University in Special Education. I have always taught regular education but felt having a special ed background would contribute to my ability to create diverse and differentiated instructional plans within my classroom.
I live in Wellsburg with my husband, Paul, and our 2 boys. Cross, my oldest son, is a freshman at BHS. Bode, my second son, is in 5th grade at WMS. They definitely keep us busy with their sports and social schedules. Both play hockey, baseball and Cross also plays basketball. Hockey would have to be my favorits sport to watch ( definately not play ). I enjoy exercising, going to concerts and watching (or attending) sporting events. I love my Pens, Pirates and Steelers !!!!!
I have to say the most rewarding part of my job is hearing from former students. It can be as simple as a "Hello Mrs. Billiard" when I'm at Kroger or attending their wedding. It makes me feel as though I've made a difference in a child"s life at some point in theirs. :)
